- 3. _S_o_u_n_d__P_l_a_y_e_r

- Sound Player (invoked from the command line as
- _s_o_u_n_d_p_l_a_y_e_r(1)) is a new Motif application for playing back
- sound files. The tool supports a variety of sound file
- formats:

- +o AIFF file format (.aiff)

- +o AIFF-C file format (.aifc)
-
- +o Sun/NeXT Format (.au or .snd)

- +o Microsoft RIFF WAVE Format (.wav)
-
- +o MPEG-1 layer I, II audio bitstreams

- +o Standard MIDI Files
-

- This program requires a Silicon Graphics system with digital
- audio hardware components (Iris Audio Processor) in order to
- play back sounds.

- You may provide a soundfile name when invoking Sound Player
- from the shell. This file, if it exists, will be loaded on
- startup.

- You can customize the appearance of Sound Player by altering
- its Motif application defaults file, _S_o_u_n_d_P_l_a_y_e_r, in the
- directory /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_X_1_1/_a_p_p-_d_e_f_a_u_l_t_s.

- application defaults file. See the man page _s_o_u_n_d_p_l_a_y_e_r(1)
- and Sound Player's on-line help for additional information
- about the tool.

- In order to play MIDI files, you must connect an
- external MIDI sound module to your workstation using

- administration tool to configure a serial port for MIDI
